YLs

Cheryl MuhrMy name is Cheryl Muhr, NØWBV and I write the YL column for WorldRadio. I was originally licensed in 1993 as a Technician Plus and worked my way up to Extra. I love all aspects of Amateur Radio and if I ever get bored with this hobby it will be my own fault!

I have tried a bit of everything including DX’ing, being DX, Contesting, ragchewing, Emergency drills including Field Day, holding club officer positions and paper chasing. Callsigns I have held include: NØWBV/KH4, NØWBV/VP5, NØWBV/J3 and T32YL.

I enjoy all modes of operation, but really got into RTTY while at Eastern Kiribati. I passed my 20 WPM code, but don't practice enough because female voices get through better in a pile-up, especially without an amplifier.

I am always looking for YLs to write about, so send news. Hope to see you on the bands!
