Carole Perry Parker was an executive vice-president for 16 years for Rapidcircuit inc. a Brooklyn based electronics company. When the company relocated, Carole went back to her first love of teaching.

In 1981 she joined the staff of Intermediate School 72 in Staten Island, N.Y. where she created the curriculum for “Introduction to Amateur Radio,” which she taught until her retirement in 2004. The enormous success of the program lead to the creation of the curriculum package which is being used in more than 200 schools throughout the country.

Carole is the 1987 recipient of the prestigious “Dayton Ham of the Year Award. The same year she was awarded the American Radio Relay League award for “Instructor of the Year.” In 1991 the “Marconi Memorial Award” was presented to her by the Veteran Wireless Operator’s Association for inspiring youngsters to pursue technical careers.

In 1993 the Quarter Century Wireless Association presented Carole with the “President’s Award” for her efforts in bringing thousands of young people into amateur radio. Carole has been the recipient of many national awards including the 1996 “Barry Goldwater Award” presented by the RCA Club where she is a Fellow. She has contributed an article to the RCA Proceedings publication as well.

The Community Mayors Association for Handicapped Children presented Carole with an award in 2001 for bringing amateur radio communications into their “Operation Santa” holiday party at Kennedy Airport each year for 4000 special needs NYC school children.

In 1991 Carole created “Hams With Class”, a column in 73 Amateur Radio Today magazine designed to share ideas with teachers and instructors of electronics and radio. She presently writes the Youth Column in WorldRadio magazine.

After achieving a successful radio contact in 1985 with the space shuttle Challenger, Carole wrote lesson plans for NASA to distribute to teachers who were selected to participate in Ham Radio contacts with space shuttle astronauts from their schools. (SAREX Program).

For the past 19 years Carole has moderated the “Youth Forum” and the “Instructor’s Workshop” at Dayton’s HamVention. She is a keynote speaker and seminar leader at numerous teacher and radio conventions across the country.

Carole has had the privilege of doing presentations at both the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York and at the United States Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland in an effort to recruit new cadets into the Amateur Radio programs at their respective schools.
