Equipment consists of a computer speaker to enhance transceiver audio, an MFJ-4125 25-amp switching power supply, a Yaesu FT-100 transceiver, a home-brew audio connection box (allows switching between the factory microphone and a Heil PRO-5-5 headset without removing the FT-100 face), an MFJ-949E antenna tuner and a Realistic PRO-2022 Scanner. Hidden behind the speaker is a home-brew semi-automatic antenna switch unit, which switches my home-brew 2M/70cm ground plane to the scanner whenever it is turned on, while at the same time routing the VHF/UHF antenna connector of the FT-100 to the dummy load hidden behind the scanner. The computer pictured is currently not interfaced with the radio equipment or used for logging. Aside from the antenna mentioned above, I have only a Butternut HF-9VX vertical and an IsoLoop 14/30 horizontally mounted. These antennas are switched at the tuner. I would like to point out, to those who have modest stations for whatever reason, that I have never owned an HF amplifier or a beam antenna. Yet, if you look closely at the right edge of the picture you will see that (without these items) I have still been able to earn the W-100-N and the CATZ Awards from Worldradio and have more than enough confirmed contacts for DXCC. |
