It is with the greatest pleasure that we present this wonderful
book written by Lenore Jensen, W6NAZ.
Sports and entertainment have their "superstars," Lenore
was a "superstar" of Amateur Radio. During the war for
Viet-Nam's freedom, she ran over 50,000 phone patches from SE Asia
so our service personnel could speak to their families in an inexpensive
manner. Later she was a tireless worker in Southern California in
getting positive publicity about Amateur Radio into the mass media.
Whatever the journalistic merits or news value of the actual story
may really have been, I'm sure they rose to the top of the editor's
list due to Lenore's charm.
She was working on this book at the time of her passing. You could
call it her legacy to Amateur Radio. This book could live forever.
What an outstanding introduction to our humane avocation this book
would be for a newcomer or for someone possibly interested in coming
aboard.
There are a great many spare-time activities one can engage in
entirely alone, but it is quite difficult to be an Amateur Radio
operator all by yourself. You need someone on the other end ä it
is indeed a people-oriented activity. here then, are stories that
will show the goodness that can exist between people.
Here at Worldradio, we're truly touched that Lenore's stepdaughter,
Cynthia Wall, KA7ITT, chose us to publish this chronicle of the
greatness of Amateur Radio.
